Dr. Andrew W. Yap was born in Houston, TX, but moved to Cerritos, CA, in 1988. After graduating from Whitney High School in Cerritos, CA, in 1998 as Valedictorian, he attended the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA, where he majored in Biology. Dr. Yap went on to graduate with honors from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco, CA, with his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree in 2004. He completed his residency at University of Southern California (USC) and earned a Certificate in Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) in 2005. Dr. Yap then gained private practice experience by associating in private practices in Rancho Cucamonga, Upland, Chino Hills, and Cerritos, CA.
Professional development continues to be a high priority for Dr. Yap even after his residency. His post-doctoral training includes modern root canal therapy, placement and restoration of dental implants, Invisalign® orthodontic treatment, and cosmetic dentistry. He completed the Comprehensive Esthetic Residency of the Esthetic Professionals Dental Education Center in May of 2010. Dr. Yap received his Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry in July of 2011. Less than 7% of practicing dentists have this designation, as Dr. Yap has completed over 500 certified continuing education hours and passed a rigorous written exam. He is a Sustaining Member of the AACD and is currently pursuing accreditation in the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Dr. Yap is dedicated to providing residents of Buena Park and the surrounding cities of La Palma, Fullerton, Cypress, Stanton, Anaheim, Garden Grove, Brea, La Mirada, and La Habra with a comprehensive and advanced approach to your oral health.
Dr. Yap is honored to continue Dr. Vander Heide's commitment to delivering high quality dentistry in a compassionate and caring manner. He strives for integrity, excellence, honesty, diligence, humility, and kindness in his professional and personal life.
Dr. Yap is continuing the care of Dr. Vander Heide's dental practice which has been in it's current Buena Park, CA location for over 35 years.
In his free time, Dr. Yap enjoys watching movies, taking digital photographs around Buena Park, serving in the local church, and traveling to foreign countries to perform free dental services to the underserved. His most recent trip was a one-week trip to the mountain villages of Honduras.
